SATO Kana is a Senior Researcher at JIME Center, the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ). She has resided in UAE from September 2016 to September 2022 with most of her career as a researcher for Japan Bank for International Cooperation, where she has broadened her local network through finance which the bank provided to the oil & gas, electricity and other mega projects mainly in the GCC. Since her academic background relates to Iran, she also has participated in the negotiation between Iranian financial sectors before the Trump administration revoked JCPOA. Having these backgrounds, her expertise are on geo-economics of Iran, UAE and GCC-Iran relations.
