SPA -32- POLITICAL/ PRINCE NAIF HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE ON TERRORISM 5 RIYADH

PRINCE NAIF SAID, 'THE KINGDOM NEVER ACCEPTS MALTREATMENT OFITS PEOPLE. THE SAUDIS ARE NOT IN THOSE COUNTRIES TO BETTER THEIR LIVES. GOOD LIVING IS IN ABUNDANCE IN THEIR COUNTRY. BUT THEY ARE THERE AS STUDENTS, PATIENTS, BUSINESSMEN OR TOURISTS. SOME SAUDI NAMES MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN INVOLVED (WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY CONFIRMATION YET) BUT MALTREATMENT OF A WHOLE NATION CAN'T BY JUSTIFIED BY WHAT INDIVIDUALS HAVE COMMITTED.'

'THEREFORE, BASED ON THE PRINCIPLES IN WHICH THEY THEMSELVES BELIEVE, I.E. HUMAN RESPECT, WE STRONGLY DEMAND THAT SAUDIS EVERYWHERE RECEIVE THAT RESPECT AS THEY HAVE BEFORE. IF THIS WERE DUETO THE INVOLVEMENT OF REPORTEDLY SAUDI NAMES, THEN, THIS HAS NOT BEENPROVEN YET. PEOPLE OF VARIOUS NATIONALITIES HAVE COMMITTED TERRORIST ACTS IN THOSE AND OTHER COUNTRIES. WHY HAVE NOT THEIR NATIONS BEEN MALTREATED?' HE SAID.

'THEN, ALL SHOULDN'T CONCENTRATE ONLY ON FIGHTING TERRORISM, BUT SHOULD ALSO LOOK INTO AND PROBE THE CAUSES OF TERRORISM.
