World Council for Islamic Daawa meets in Libya
Tripoli, Libya, Rajab 12/Sep 29 (IINA) – The Libya-based World Council for Islamic Daawa has stressed the importance of rebuilding the Islamic entity and the protection of the rights of Muslims, based on Islamic values of tolerance, peace, equality and justice.
Among those who took part at the meeting were Abdul Rahman Suare Dhahab, Chairman of the Board of Trustee of the Sudan Islamic Daawa Organization; Dr. Abdullah Al-Turky, Secretary-General of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL); Abdul Sabur Marzuq, secretary-general of Islamic Affairs, plus a number of other prominent Muslim personalities as well as functionaries at the council.
Among the functions that would be held on the sidelines of the meeting is the inauguration of the new library of the College of Islamic Daawa, a book exhibition, and a seminar on the role of Islamic universities in propagating the Islamic Daawa.

Europe against linking Islam to terrorism, says Belgian PM
Brussels, Rajab 12/Sep 29 (IINA) – Belgium’s Prime Minister, Guy Hofstad, has said that the European Union declines to be drawn into any religious confrontation with either the Arab or the Muslim worlds. He told the Saudi newspaper ALJAZEERA that Belgium and Europe refuse to link terrorism with Islam, adding, “we have no intention whatsoever to of transforming the war against terrorism into a war confrontation of civilizations.” He said he is scheduled to visit the US, and would inform the Americans about the stand taken by Europe.

Egypt to train Imams on computer use
Cairo, Rajab 12/Sep 29 (IINA) - Egypt’s Minister of Endowments, Dr. Mahmoud Himdi Zaqzouq, Egypt’s Minister of Endowments, has said that a number of centers have been opened in various districts of the country for the training of Imams in the use of the computer. He said another five centers would soon be opened in a number of regions, for promoting Islamic culture, adding that the Holy Qur’an competitions would continue to be held on both the local and national levels.

Yemen: WAMY holds Holy Qur’an Competition
Sanaa, Rajab 12/Sep 29 (IINA) - the Riyadh-based World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) is on Monday holding its first annual Holy Qur’an Competition for students who had been taking up Qur’an studies at its 30 teaching cells, according to Muhammad Abdul Aziz Al-Dues, Director of WAMY’s Sanaa office. He told IINA correspondent that the participants would be divided into three categories. Those who have memorized the entire Qur’an, those who have memorized 20 chapters, and those who have memorized only 10 chapters, and the winners in each category would be presented with their awards at a special ceremony to be held at the Great Hall of the University of Science and Technology here.

Malaysia publishes booklet on Zakat
Kuala Lumpur, Rajab 12/Sep 29 (IINA) – A booklet on the payment of the annual Zakat has been published here, dealing with payment at the individual and at the commercial levels, using modern methods that are both simple and practical. It is being distributed to companies and to individual merchants.
The publication has been made possible by the cooperation between the Islamic Progress Council and the Zakat Council of Malaysia, and the Vice-President and Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmed Badawy, has lauded its publication, saying that it was in keeping with government’s policy.
A two-day Zakat Conference was also recently held here, with participants drawn from among the Muslim traders, and merchants, as well as employees involved in the collection of Zakat.
