Arab-Muslim nation needs common ground to counter Zionist plots

Abu Dhabi, Sept 25, 2001 (Wam) --Arabs and Muslims need more active diplomacy to counter Zionist attempts which seek to incite a US-led anti-terrorism coalition against Arab and Muslim countries, a UAE newspaper warned today. +We have observed a flurry of Arab-Muslim diplomatic actions at regional and international arenas to rationalise war against terrorism so as not to be used as a weapon to destroy certain countries, or deal with Arab-Muslim causes and rights with a heavy hand as strategic factors that have nothing to do with true objectives of the anti-terrorism campaign,+ wrote the +Akhbar Al Arab.+ +President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was among the first Arab leaders whose statements have helped to create a positive common ground for joint Arab-Muslim action to fight terrorism with patience, reason and irrefutable evidence,+ the paper said, noting that Arab initiatives had also urged the anti-terrorism coalition not to rush to conclusions and avoid policy of double standards in reference to state terrorism practiced by Israeli government against the Palestinians. +The UAE's move has inspired the GCC foreign ministers' council to pledge support for international efforts to identify criminals of terrorist acts in the US. The paper hailed all Arab-Muslim efforts as necessary and useful, but saw that they were not enough to create a protective shield for Arab and Muslim countries against hardline counter-terrorism policy and Zionist plans to stir guns of the anti-terrorism war towards Arab and Muslim countries.
