Rather, we will
witness a spiral of hate and violence which could well destroy
civilization," it warned.
"Tomorrow, we may live in a drastically polarized world with
zero tolerance on both sides. In fact, this may well have been the
hideous objective pursued by real perpetrators of last week's
attacks," it feared.
The U.S. administration, 12 days after the catastrophic events,
have as yet "not clarified the issues surround these attacks in any
consistent or believable manner," it said, adding that what it has
done so far is to give vague descriptions of suspects, i.e., "they
have an accent, are from Middle Easter origin, are from different
countries...."
"In fact, the way the American government is providing information
on this attack seems to be pointing the finger at the whole Muslim
world," the daily regretted.
It accused American officials of being "ambiguous" in their
target, and presenting its side of the picture "to prepare the
global public opinion for possible attacks on any country or countries
that they may choose."
The daily then called on the United Nations to "step in and save
the world from possible catastrophe."
"Considering the complexity and sheer sensitivity of this
unfortunate affair, it is most important for the investigations into
last Tuesday's attacks to be conducted by a UN fact-finding
commission," it recommended.
Any conclusion reached by the commission will not only be
"acceptable to the global community" but will also "effectively curb
he blind and senseless wave of hatred which is engulfing the
world," the daily concluded.
LS/LS
End
::irna 10:32
