Cease-fire collapses as Israeli tanks enter PA-controlled areas

Occupied Jerusalem: 20 September, 2001 (IAP News) - Israeli tanks on Thursday overran a Palestinian Authority-controlled area in southern Gaza, killing a Palestinian and destroying vast tracts of farm land and fruit trees.

Palestinian sources said the Zionist army fired an artillery shell on a Palestinian car north of Rafah, killing 33-year-old Munir Abu Mousa, and injuring another person.

The Israeli occupation army claimed that occupation soldiers came under fire, a claim denied by Palestinian sources.

The Zionists also said that five of their soldiers were injured rather lightly.

Meanwhile, most political organizations in Palestine have rejected the American-imposed cease-fire.

Hamas said the cease-fire was only aimed at enabling the United States to enlist Arab and Muslim countries in its crusade against Afghanistan.

Fatah officials also voiced opposition to the cease-fire.

Fatah Secretary-General Marwan al Barghouthi said it was extremely difficult for the Palestinian people to stop resistance against Israeli military occupation while Israeli terror and apartheid remained firmly in place.

Interesting quote Of the day

""When somebody is accused, evidence is presented and he is prosecuted in a court of law, and if he is found innocent, he is acquitted and declared innocent, and if found guilty, he is sentenced and punished. However, American, driven by the hysteria of recent events, wants to shed Muslim blood indiscriminately, and Muslims must not take part in this act of aggression."  - Sheikh Nayef Rajoub, a member of the Palestine League of Ulema
