ZCZC WAM000 NXQ UAE NATIONALS AND STUDENTS IN US ARE SAFE ' RCS ABU DHABI, SEPT. 19, 2001 (WAM) -- THE UAE RED CRESCENT SOCIETY (RCS) SAID TODAY THAT IT HAD MADE INTENSIVE CONTACTS WITH INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN AND RELIEF AGENCIES AND THE HEALTH CARE SECTION AT THE US EMBASSY IN ABU DHABI TO GET ASSURE OF THE CONDITION OF UAE NATIONALS AND STUDENTS IN THE US FOLLOWING THE LAST WEEK'S ATTACKS THERE. '' OUR CONTACTS WITH THE UAE DIPLOMATIC MISSION IN THE US HAVE CONFIRMED THAT UAE NATIONALS ARE SAFE,'' SAID RCS BOARD CHAIRMAN KHALIFA NASSIR AL SUWAIDI, ADDING THAT THE US RED CROSS HAD SHOWN READINESS TO COOPERATE WITH UAE RCS IN ORDER TO OFFER NECESSARY HEALTH CARE FOR UAE NATIONALS THERE. '' THE RCS IS IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS IN GENEVA AND THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE RED CROSS AND RED CRESCENT SOCIETIES IN BOTH GENEVA AND NEW YORK IN REGARDS WITH THEIR EFFORTS TO HELP AFFECTED PEOPLE THERE,'' HE ADDED. THE RCS, HE SAID, IS CURRENTLY OFFERING, IN COOPERATION WITH THE US RED CROSS, ITS SERVICES TO THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO ENQUIRE ABOUT THEIR RELATIVES IN THE US.
