USA/Attacks: Algeria Pleads for a Universal Action Under the Supervision of the United Nations

imageAlgeria asserted Sunday that the tragic developments taking place in the United States underline "the emergency and imperious necessity of a universal action organised in the framework of a concerted strategy that would be in conformity with the international commitments concluded under the supervision of the United Nations". Condemning "firmly" these "odious attacks", the cabinet, meeting under the chairmanship of the president of the republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, recalled that " it is neither wise nor fair to make an amalgam between the terrorist barbarity and Islam, a pure religion of tolerance, peace and fraternity".

"Algeria, the cabinet underlines in a communiqu・ sympathises with full serenity with the pain of the American people, It which suffered from the same barbarity for a decade and which saw some tens of millions of children perishing by the brutality of terrorism that shakes blindly without any distinction".

In this context, the communiqu・recalled that the Algerian authorities "did not stop appealing for setting up an effective international co-operation" of struggle against terrorism, a plague that Algeria is fighting "with determination'' since about ten years.
